What changed in the port

Which parts became utilities, which stayed CSS, and why.

  • Only @property stayed CSS; the conic arc, donut mask, notch clip-path and scanlines are all arbitrary values on the elements that paint them.
  • The original put the focus outline on the clipped chip, where clip-path cut it off at the notches; it now lives on an unclipped label wrapper.
  • UI upgrade from the CSS original: each loadout shows a four-segment stat bar (stealth / power / armour at a glance) that brightens on the checked chip — the choice now carries information.
  • UI upgrade: role copy rose from #5f6c94 (3.6:1) to 7:1, and names moved to Chakra Petch for a genuine HUD voice.

How this works

Why @property stays. A custom property is a string until registered; registering --trb16-a as <angle> lets the keyframe interpolate it, so the conic gradient's start angle spins smoothly. That at-rule has no utility equivalent.

The rest is utilities. The mask, clip-path and scanline gradient are arbitrary values; the arc only animates on the checked chip via group-has-checked:before:animate-trb16-spin. Focus is a hard 2px white outline — guaranteed visible over any neon.

  • Notch depth: the 10px values in the polygon.

Gotchas — read before shipping

  • Without @property the angle can't interpolate; the reduced-motion static ring doubles as that fallback.
  • clip-path also clips outlines — the focus ring is drawn on the label wrapper, outside the clipped chip.
  • Don't animate the mask; rotate the gradient angle and keep the mask static.
